The Delaware Restaurant Association, through its 501c3 Education Foundation (DRAEF) has formed the restaurant industry Emergency Action Trust (E.A.T.s) to provide immediate emergency funding to hospitality workers. The Trust, funded by private, community and individual donations, will distribute individual $500 grants to our frontline industry employees during these uncertain times of mandated restaurant shutdowns.
Thank You!!
The love and support for Delaware’s restaurant industry during the devastating days of COVID-19 has been nothing short of amazing – since its inception in late March, the Delaware Emergency Action Trust (DE EATS) relief fund for restaurant workers has raised over $290,000 and provided critical financial support to over 575 industry workers. In this time of great need, we saw our community come together in outreach to an industry and workers that are such a part of our daily lives….helping save the industry that serves us all. We cannot thank our partners and donors enough for their generous contributions, fundraisers, and ongoing support – donations from Dogfish Head, The Greater Lewes Foundation & WSFS Bank, plus contributions from businesses, philanthropic groups and hundreds of individual donations helped sustain the EATs fund over the course of this crisis.
The Delaware Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (DRAEF) is now dispersing the final donations from the EATs fund to our remaining industry worker applicants, coinciding with restaurants reopening under Phase 1 Delaware Guidelines. At this time we will not be accepting further donations to the EATs fund ‘Displaced Employee Initiative’, as the DRAEF will transition back to providing educational and training initiatives to our local communities. The EATs fund will remain dormant until further emergency needs or community crisis funding become necessary.
Thank you again for your continued support – the success of the EATs fund,”saving the industry that serves us all,” has been made possible by the strength and generosity of our amazing Delaware communities.
Please consider transitioning your donation to ongoing program support of the DRAEF. The DRAEF, the philanthropic arm under the umbrella of the Delaware Restaurant Association, provides the ProStart Program curriculum to local Delaware high schools and correctional facilities, administers the Cook Apprenticeship Program in restaurants across the state, and continues to build career opportunities and workforce development initiatives for our diverse and professional industry workforce. The DRAEF is a non-profit entity, sustained by fundraising efforts, grant funding and corporate and individual donations.
