The House Labor Committee passed a bill to raise the minimum wage to $8.25 an hour despite heavy opposition from labor and small business groups.
The Delaware Restaurant Association testified that operators are faced with multiple effects of an economy in turmoil. A decline in consumer confidence coupled with a dramatic increase in commodities and energy have erased the 3-5% profit margin most restaurants have seen in the past.
